Johnathan’s primary areas of practice are Criminal Defense, Juvenile Defense, Family Law and Bankruptcy. Born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina, Johnathan moved to Fargo in 1990 and is a graduate of Fargo North High School and North Dakota State University with a double-major in Political Science and History. Johnathan graduated from the University Of North Dakota School Of Law in 1999.
Johnathan has extensive experience in all areas of criminal defense. His criminal trial experience includes both felony and misdemeanor offenses involving property crimes, personal crimes and drug offenses. He also has broad experience working with probation violations, juvenile delinquency proceedings, and in CHIPS (Children In Need of Protection) matters. He currently represents clients throughout Minnesota and North Dakota, including Northwest Minnesota to the Twin Cities and its suburbs.
Johnathan is a past District Director of the League of Minnesota Human Rights Commissions, and a past Chairperson of the Moorhead Human Rights Commission. He also has a strong interest in education as he is a past Director of Multicultural Affairs at Concordia College-Moorhead and has taught law classes at the Minnesota School of Business and at Rasmussen (Aakers) College.
Johnathan understands the need for clients to be confident that they have a strong advocate in their corner addressing their concerns. He strives to maintain an honest straight-forward relationship of integrity with all of his clients.
Johnathan is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Minnesota Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Minnesota Association of Black Lawyers, Minnesota State Bar Association, and Clay County Bar Association.
When not at work, Johnathan enjoys spending time with his wife and children, coaching FM Athletics youth football, reading and playing golf. |
