Learn More About Robert Vallie
Robert earned his undergraduate degree from North Dakota State University, majoring in History with a minor in Political Science. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from the University of North Dakota School of Law and has been a practicing attorney in North Dakota since 2017.
A strong believer in the value of public service, Robert has worked with numerous public sector entities, including North Dakota State University, the NDSU Research Foundation, the North Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs, and the North Dakota University System. From 2011 to 2012, he served as the Student Member of the State Board of Higher Education, an appointment made by Governor Dalrymple.
Regardless of title or authority, Robert has always approached concerns brought by the public with the same mindset: as a public servant, it is his responsibility to solve problems and ensure that individuals can trust the government is working for them. He believes that holding power or authority requires constant awareness to act rightfully and for the right reasons.
This philosophy guided him during his seven and a half years of service as an Assistant State’s Attorney, first in Ward County and then in Cass County. In that role, he prosecuted a wide range of cases, from Minors in Possession to Attempted Murder, always holding himself to a high standard to ensure that, regardless of the outcome, justice was done.
Robert now practices in the areas of eminent domain and property condemnation. He also offers legal services in governmental relations and lobbying. Having worked in North Dakota’s legislative process since 2011, Robert brings a wealth of experience in policy, strategic advocacy, and legislative problem-solving. Whether determining what government form needs to be submitted in triplicate or working to change state law, he approaches every matter with clarity, passion, and a straightforward commitment to his clients—letting them know they have someone in their corner, fighting the good fight.
Robert is a native of Christine, North Dakota. In his spare time, he enjoys fixing things around the house and playing board games with friends. He also tries to keep pace with his wife, daughter, and two dogs, joining them in all their adventures.
